Abstract

1375646 Web forming, non-woven fabrics ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 30 Aug 1972 [30 Aug 1971 3 June 1972] 40222/72 Headings DIN and D1R A non-woven web is formed by extruding a spinning liquor through a plurality of rectangularly arranged orifices. The extruded liquor is coagulated in a bath to form filaments which are stretched by a funnel device. The filaments are deposited on a pervious conveyor which is subject to lateral oscillations. The filaments are formed by a nozzle box 2 and pass through a coagulating bath 4 in which liquid entering at 5 passes up through a perforated plate 3 and overflows into a funnel 6 to entrain the filaments and stretch them as they progress to an outlet slit 7. The filaments fall as a curtain 8 onto a conveyor 9 over a suction box 10. Belt guiding rollers 13, 15 are supported on a frame 11 which is mounted by rollers 25, 26 on the machine frame and caused to transversely oscillate by a crank mechanism, Fig. 3. The web is run between pressure rollers 27, 28 and may be subjected to chemical scouring and afterfinishing treatments 29, 30 such as pickling and linsing. The web may be selfbonding or a bonding agent may be applied. Examples of suitable spining liquids are given as cellulose 10%, amonium 7%, copper 3.6%, or cellulose 8.4%, alkali 6.5 with a soft water coagulating bath, or acrylonitrile 94 pts, acrylamide 5.5 pts, allysulphonic acid 0.2 pts, in 1,000 pts. water with a 37% nitric acid coagulation bath. Suitable numbers and arrangements of spinning orifices are given. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 (not shown) illustrate two stage funnel arrangements.
