Abstract

1375626 Cathode-ray display tubes HITACHI Ltd 9 Aug 1972 [11 Aug 1971] 37048/72 Heading H1D A colour picture tube includes a fluorescent screen having a plurality of phosphor units equally pitched over the entire screen and a coating of black non-luminous substance therebetween, a colour selection electrode 6 between the screen and electron gun, each phosphor unit having an area larger than the crosssectional beam area at the screen, and the phosphor units either being substantially the same size over the whole screen surface or larger at the peripheral portion (e.g. curves 10 and 9 respectively as in Fig. 2 (not shown)). Mislanding causes are considered (e.g. terrestrial magnetism or deflection field distortion), and the peripheral diameter of shadow mask perforations may be reduced by 0À04 to 0-09 mms. In a matrix tube the phosphor dot diameter may be about 40 to 60Á smaller than other tubes to increase the light absorption area by the black substance. Perforations pitches for particular perforation diameters are given. Red, green, blue phosphor dot trios are exemplified, and also grid mask type colour tubes with phosphor stripes.
