Abstract

1375308 Magnetic powder clutches SIEMENS AG 28 Sept 1972 [29 Sept 1971] 44761/72 Heading H2A In a magnetic powder clutch having an input member 1 comprising a magnetic core 2, a clutch output member 8 fixed to an output shaft 7 and projecting into a gap in the core 2, and seals 10 arranged between the input and output members to seal off a powder chamber 9 therebetween from the exterior, such seals 10 are V-ring seals which seat on the output member and each of which bears with its sealing lip 11 axially against a respective sealing plate 5 forming part of the input member. The input member includes a coil 3, the output shaft is mounted in bearings 6, and near the lips 11 are inclined surfaces 12 which cause under centrifugal force, the powder to be carried away from the seals.
