Abstract

1374997 Manipulators INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 5 Jan 1973 [11 Oct 1971] 47276/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division F1] An hydraulic actuator, Fig. 1, comprises a block 3 with at least two parallel cylinders 1 with pistons 5 which are operable to tilt on endplate 9 about a joint 10 by which it is attached to the block 1. As described, four cylinders are provided and the joint 10 is universal. Each piston has a free-running captive wall 8. Figure 3 shows an arrangement in which actuators are combined to form part of a manipulator, the end-plates of actuators 17, 18 forming respectively the blocks of actuators 18, 19.
