Abstract

1374840 Mounting covers on rolls MAGNAGRAPHICS CORP 21 Dec 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 59271/72 Heading F2U A roller (e.g. for ) comprises a cylinder having an axial slot 26 containing a permanent magnet 18 spaced from the cylinder surface, around which is wrapped a mat having at least at one end a magnetizable bar 22, 24 which is located and retained in the slot 26 by the magnet. The magnet 18 may comprise a channel 36 containing ceramic magnets 42 and pole-pieces 40, Fig. 9. The bars 22, 24 may be positioned and tightened in the slot 26 by wedges 52, Fig. 4. The mat may comprise a magnetic backing sheet (34), Fig. 3 (not shown), and the cylinder a further slot (28) with a permanent magnet (20) flush with the cylinder and diametrically opposite the slot 18. The bar engaging faces of the wedges 52 may be undercut.
