Abstract

1374576 Testing textile yarn PRECISION PROCESSES (TEXTILES) Ltd 6 Jan 1972 [15 Oct 1970] 49144/70 Heading G1S A peripherally grooved wheel 2 supports a yarn rope in the groove and co-operates with the flange 3 of a wheel 1 to compress the yarn whilst it is being wetted by a solution of sodium borate applied from a bath or spray. The yarn is measured for length before being treated by the wheels and is measured again after wetting and stretching under 100 gm load. The wheel 1 is journalled in a frame hinged at 7 and both wheels comprise outer disks of stainless steel sandwiching a plate of cotton laminated phenolic resin. The wheels rotate at different speeds and more than one wheel may be used at top and bottom. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the yarn rope is tied off at one end by a thread (12) which is passed through a hole (10) and around a pin (9).
