1374189 Drawing board stands SOC ALPIA SA 8 Dec 1972 [16 Feb 1972] 56712/72 Heading A4H A drawing board stand comprises at least one column 1 on which is mounted a slide 2, the column or slide supporting the board in use, and the slide including means for locking the slide at a desired position on the column, wherein the slide comprises a casing (3,) 4 surrounding the column and rollers 7, 8, 9, 10 having curved portions (11) to mate with the column for guiding the slide on the column, the locking means comprising a stirrup piece 12 surrounding the column and supporting a double-eccentric 13 and a locking shoe 14 with a brake lining 15, the eccentric 13 being rotatable with a shaft 24 rotatable by a lever (30), a return spring (31) being connected to the lever to bias the eccentric so that it bears against the stirrup-piece 12 and column 1 and moves the stirrup piece 12 to the left so as to apply the brake lining 15 against the column, as shown, the lever being movable against the action of said spring (31) to render the slide movable on the column by an unlocking pedal connected to the lever (30) by a linkage (32). Shoe 14 is adjustable in stirrup-piece 12 by a screw 17, and during unlocking a resilient strip 20 moves the stirruppiece to the right. The region 1a of column 1 co-operating with the eccentric 13 is sanded.
