Abstract

1373823 Pivoted joints BRITISH LEYLAND (AUSTIN-MORRIS) Ltd 13 Jan 1972 [19 March 1971] 7443/71 Heading E2F A pivoted joint or articulated coupling wherein two wrist-pins 6, 9 are disposed at right angles to each other and are each supported by both end zones of the wristpins in apertures provided in two inter-engaging link members 1, 2 of a mechanical linkage, articulation being effected by mutual rolling action of the wrist pins. Each of the wrist pins has, mid-way between its end zones, a circumferential groove 9 of concave shape. The load applied to either one of the link members 1 and 2 is transmitted to the other solely by the interaction of the wrist-pins. Working clearance is allowed for by an enlarged hole 5 in the link member 2.
