Abstract
1373121 Centrifugal pumps SENER TECNICA INDUSTRIAL Y NAVAL SA 24 Aug 1971 [11 Sept 1970 18 March 1971] 39672/71 Heading F1C A hydraulic pump comprises a rotary housing 2, Fig. 16, rotary feed means 16, 17 for supplying liquid substantially tangentially into the housing, and at least one divergent scoop member 7 directed in opposition to the direction of rotation of the housing to collect liquid therefrom. Moreover liquid is supplied to the feed means through a conduit 34, Fig. 3 projecting with clearance into a tubular portion 36 of the feed means. The housing and feed means may be driven by two separate coaxial shafts or by a common shaft, or the feed means alone may be shaft driven and arranged to hydraulically drive the housing by the supplied liquid. The drive shaft or shafts may be driven by an electric motor through a belt or gearing. Scoop members may be arranged in side-by-side or angularly-spaced relationship. A scoop member may be located in an annular channel formed in a housing inner surface, Fig. 20 (not shown). The housing radial wall 5, Fig. 16, may have overflow apertures 51 for controlling the depth of the liquid ring formed in the housing. A partition may be provided to divide the housing into two chambers respectively associated with scoop and feed means, Figs. 18, 19 (not shown). Nozzles 17 of the feed means, and the scoop member 7 may be of curved or straight form, and the opening at their ends may be of circular, oval or rectangular shape, Figs. 7 to 15 (not shown). The pump may be arranged with its rotational axis vertical with the housing having a central tube extending downwardly into a volume of liquid contained in a reservoir as shown in Fig. 23, and receive an upwardly-extending portion 42 of a supply duct 41 provided with a floatcontrolled valve 43 for maintaining the level of the liquid substantially constant. The pump housing may be arranged within a stationaryhousing (60), Figs. 6, 25 (not shown), having a leakage drain at the bottom thereof.
