Abstract

1372752 Vehicle doors CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 3 Jan 1973 [11 Jan 1972] 1278/72 Heading B7J A vehicle door comprises inner and outer panels 12, 10, the panel 12 having horizontal channel section corrugations 15, 16, 17 between which depression 21, 22 are fixed by adhesive to the panel 10. Edges 30, 31 of end walls 25, 26 and edge 32 of bottom wall 29 are clinched with the periphery of panel 12 within tuned flanges 11a, 11b of panel 10. Shoulders on the bottom and end walls are attached by welding or adhesive to the panel 12 and a bridge member 38 is bolted to the end walls through apertures 36, 37. A trim panel 48 is mounted on the end and bottom walls and comprises a rigid foamed plastics base having a resilient foam overlay and a sprayed plastics skin. A recess 50 in the panel 48 allows access to a door opener 42 and window winder 44 mounted on bridge member 38. A pane of window glass actuated for vertical movement by a mechanism supported by member 38 passes between panels 12 and 48. An arm rest 51 is integral with panel 48.
