Abstract

1372419 Extruding multicoloured soap BLENDAX-WERKE R SCHNEIDER & CO 4 Oct 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 46063/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division C5] A soap or detergent material bar, comprising different coloured layers 8, 9 is continuously extruded from a die 7 tapering towards its outlet and to which the material of each layer is supplied along separate and parallel extrusion paths defined on either side of a partition 3, and comprising a hopper 1 containing soap chips, upper parallel screws 2, and a vacuum chamber discharging vertically downwardly to lower parallel screws 6. The extruded bar may be embossed or trimmed. The screws are enclosed by a cooling jacket and may be driven by the same means. Where one layer is white, titanium dioxide may be used to obtain an opaque effect, and a brightening agent may be added. The soap may be based on stearic and oleic acid, or the alkaline salts of other fatty acids that are obtainable by saponification of palm, olive or tall oil. Small amounts of synthetic straight chain and/or branched fatty acids may be employed as foaming and superfatting agents. Alternatively, synthetic detergents may be employed such as alkyl sulphates, alkylarylsulphonates. Olefinic sulphonates, esters of isethionic acid, and the alkali salts thereof. An amount of 0À05 to 5À0% by weight of various specified anti-microbial substances may be included, and various specified reducing agents may also be included to prevent discoloration of bars containing the anti-microbial agents. Skin protectors and re-fatting agents may also be included, e.g. lanolin, fatty alcohols, fatty acid alkylolamides, lecithin, carboxymethyl cellulose, fatty acid/albumin condensates, and albumin hydrolysates.
