1372253 Taking up slack in flexible elements SIEMENS AG 24 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 44748/71 Heading B8B [Also in Division A5] A holding and pull-back device, for a dental hand instrument connected to a flexible supply line, comprises a pivotable arm 43, for supporting the supply line contained within, connected to a support bearing 44 pivotably mounted on a shaft 46 axially mounted in a cylindrical hollow member 41, there being means comprising springs 45, connected to the support bearing 44 and a plate 54 secured to the hollow member 41, for returning the arm 43 to a rest position after displacement of the arm from this position during use of the hand instrument. The pivotable arm 43 projects radially from an arcuate slot in the hollow member 41. A micro-switch 49 for operating the hand instrument is contained in the hollow member 41 and responds at a specific pivot position of the arm 43. Further hollow members may be added on the unit construction principle to accommodate a number of instruments or a single hollow member may be supplied having a number of arcuate slots (21), Fig. 2 (not shown). The hollow member is connected to an "L"-shaped supporting frame (5), Fig. 1 (not shown), which also pivotably supports an "L"-shaped hand instrument holder (13) whose free limb has "V"-shaped grooves to accommodate the hand instruments (12). The device is associated with a dentists chair (1) which has the supply unit (2) for operating the device beneath the foot end of the chair. In another embodiment arms (35), Fig. 3 (not shown), extend from a casing (30) comprising sub-cylinders (31) which are pivoted about a supporting frame (34) which can be of "L"- or "U"-shape and the device includes springs within the casing to bias each arm to the rest position.
