Abstract
1372169 Cleaning vehicle lamp glasses ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 8 June 1973 [10 June 1972] 27362/73 Heading A4F A motor vehicle is provided with a manually operable wiper system for lamp lenses e.g. headlamp lenses 12 and rear lamp lenses 212, and comprising a wiper element 13 or 211 applied against each lens, the wiper elements being coupled via a common flexible power transmission member, e.g. a Bowden cable 19, to a common actuator 18 operable to effect a wiping movement of each element in one direction against the action of resilient means which effects a wiping movement in the opposite direction. On pulling the actuator 18 the cable 19 rotates a pulley in a housing 20 against the action of a helical or spiral spring (27 or 127, Figs. 4 and 5 not shown), the pulley being on a shaft driving one of the wiper elements 13. The pulley is also coupled via the cables 119a, 219a and 319a to pulleys driving the other wiper element 13 and the wiper elements 211, and dispensed in housings 220a, 220b. During operation of the wipers a cam on the pulley in the housing 220a opens a valve 213 intermittently to permit washing liquid to be forced by compressed air through conduits 204, 206, 208 to nozzles 201 for discharge over the lenses being cleared. Alternatively the valve 213 may be replaced by an electric switch operable to energize an electrically driven washer pump.
