1371649 Automatic electric control HOUDAILLE INDUSTRIES Inc 6 Sept 1971 [1 Oct 1970 1 June 1971] 23160/74 Divided out of 1371648 Heading G3N The subject matter of this specification is similar with that described in Specification 1371648 but facilities are provided for determination of direction of indexing by direct comparison of actual and desired position and the claims are concerned with an indexing control system for controlling the indexing of a member between stations some of which have different spacing therebetween, the system comprising a memory having stored therein the number of equal indexing increments between each successive pair of stations, read-out means responsive to a command signal to successively read from the memory the respective number of indexing increments needed to traverse successive pairs of stations lying between a present position and a new position represent by the command signal, and output means connected with the memory and controlled by the successive numbers of indexing increments supplied therefrom for producing indexing movement of the member from the present position to the new position.
