Abstract

1371279 Continuous casting CONCAST AG 12 Sept 1972 [28 Sept 1971] 42395/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] A turret for slewing ladles 10 to and from a continuous casting location has carrier arms 9 supported on a rotatable structure 3 which is mounted on a bearing 4 on the shop floor 15 and has guide rollers 6, Fig. 2, and is mounted in a stationary tower structure 1 which provides an upper track (circular rail 2) for the rollers 6. Beams 11 on each arm 9 are adjustable for height by jacks (12), e.g. having motors (21) and screw spindles (23); they rest on weightmeasuring devices (13) electrically connected to the drive of the jacks and of gear 8 which rotates the inner tower structure 3. When a ladle is nearly empty a signal from the devices (13) initiates lifting of the ladle and slewing of the structure 3. A tundish 16 is conveyed in raised position for introduction of its spout 20 into a mould 17.
