Abstract

1370544 Cellular thermoplastic material bobbins PRODUITS CHIMIQUES UGINE KUHLMANN 4 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31269/72 Heading B8M A bobbin is characterized in that it is made of a thermoplastic material of cellular structure, the density of the cellular structure being between 90% and 25% of the density of the starting polymer. The density of the cellular structure is preferably between a half and nine tenths of the density of the non-cellular starting polymer. The cellular thermoplastic material may be polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, polyester, acrylic polymer or vinylic polymer or copolymer. To increase crush strength the thermoplastic material may be reinforced with glass fibres. The bobbin may be provided with or without flanges with suitable driving engagement configurations, suitable yarn trapping surface and indentification disc receiving portion. The bobbin may be injection or extrusion moulded in one or more discrete elements which are suitably assembled.
