Abstract

1370082 Luminescent screens HITACHI Ltd 3 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 10114/72 Heading HID In the manufacture of a colour television screen by a photo-resist process wherein light from a point source passes through a correction lens comprising a plurality of rectangular lens areas joined by abrupt transition portions, the latter transmit less light and produce a dark grid pattern on the screen; this effect is mitigated by reducing the light passing through the lens areas. In one arrangement a chequered pattern of attentuating material is provided either on the lens areas or on the surface of a transparent substrate combined with the lens. Alternatively a pattern of straight grooves may be cut in the surface of the lens areas.
