Abstract

The correction filter is used with an illumination device in the making of colour TV shadow masks. The effective surface of the filter is divided in several areas with specified light transmission. Each of the small areas (221) has an opaque strip (311) lying on its surface along one direction, with the rest of the area transparent. The width of the opaque strip (311) is determined from the light transmission required for this area, so that the whole filter (21) has the required light transmission distribution. If r is the fraction of light to be transmitted by the area, then (1-r) is the fraction of the width of the area occupied by the opaque strip.
