Abstract

1370055 Route selection MESSERSCHMITTBOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 14 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 11786/72 Heading B7N [Also in Division G4] An automatic control system for rail vehicles or conveyer units comprises a central computer 8 which programmes and controls a control unit 7 adjacent a waiting area 5 and control units 6 at junctions between various streams 2-4. The units 6 indicate to a vehicle or unit displaying destination information the route it should follow to reach that destination most rapidly (not necessarily by the shortest route) or may initiate operation of switching means to move the vehicle or unit follows that route. A reader supplies the destination information to each unit 6, which in the event of failure of computer 8, switches to a fixed programme (as does the unit 7). The complete system may comprise several parts as disclosed above, in which case each part is controlled by a subordinate computer coupled to computer 8 which then co-ordinates operation of the entire system. The subordinate computers may be interconnected to exchange information between immediately adjacent parts of the system.
