Abstract

1369667 Mixer/settler apparatus S M KARPACHEVA L S RAGINSKY V M MURATOV V D IVANOV MV SHELOUMOV and A P SAVENKO 11 Sept 1971 42472/71 Heading B1F In a bank of mixer/settler apparatus, heavy and light immiscible phases are introduced at the same end of each mixing section through separate inlets, e.g. 12 and 13, Fig. 2, by separate pumps 5 and 7, to form a pressurized composite liquid stream which is subjected to mixing by rotating mixer 15, separated phases flowing between each mixer/settler in a generally countercurrent direction. The mixing may also be done as in Fig. 4 by reciprocating mixer 15, as in Fig. 6 by rotating mixer 15 and porous packs 20, or as in Fig. 10 by fluid pulsation from pulser 27 through perforated plates.
