Abstract

1369508 Cathode-ray tubes MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 8 Sept 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 41898/71 Heading H1D The target 30, Fig. 3, of a monoscope comprises a semi-conductive substrate of silicon covered with a silicon dioxide layer which is selectively removed to provide a fount of characters 31. The target may be made by a photo-resist process and each character may be accommodated within a square 200 x 200 microns in size. The silicon substrate is preferably doped with antimony sulphide to increase its conductivity and a small amount of antimony sulphide may be diffused into the oxide layer to increase its conductivity and thereby prevent accumulation of charge upon it when it is scanned by an electron beam. Alternatively, as illustrated in Fig. 3, the oxide layer may be divided up by a mosaic of lines 32 2 microns thick and 5 microns apart to prevent concentration of charge.
