Abstract
1368990 Measuring Q of coils LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 30 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 55429/71 Heading G1U The Q-factor of a coil Pr is determined by connecting the coil to form part of a tuned circuit Pr, C which determines the frequency of oscillation of an oscillatory loop, and measuring the voltage uc developed across the capacitor of the tuned circuit. The ozcillatory loop comprises a chain of amplifiers TV, RV, HV, EV and a phase shifter Ph, the chain receiving as input the capacitor voltage uc and providing as output the tuned circuit exciting voltage uo which is maintained constant by an auxiliary loop V1, GL1, DV controlling a controllable amplifier RV in the chain. A voltage uM, proportional to the capacitor voltage uc, and the exciting voltage uo are fed alternately by synchronous switches EU1, EU2, through an amplifier V2, to respective rectifiers/stores GL2, 3, SP1, 2 for comparison by a digital voltmeter DVM. By varying the capacitance C, the Q of the coil may be measured at different frequencies, the frequency being indicated on a meter FM.
