Abstract

1368950 Benzimidazole derivative; acaricides FISONS Ltd 11 Nov 1971 [18 Nov 1970] 54764/70 Heading C2C 4,6 - Diiodo - 1 - isopropoxycarbonyl - 2 - trifluoromethylbenzimidazole is prepared from isopropyl chloroformate and 4,6-diiodo-2-trifluoromethylbenzimidazole, either as a salt, e.g. the sodium salt, or in the presence of an acid accepter, e.g. trimethylamine or triethylamine. The prepared benzimidazole is mixed with a surface active agent and/or a carrier, e.g. a waterimmiscible organic liquid or a solid, or with another pesticide to produce an acaricidal coinposition which is applied to an infected locus. Suitable compositions contain 10-80% of the benzimidazole and 20 to 90% of the surface active agent and/or carrier. These are applied by dipping infected animals into a solution or suspension, preferably containing 100 to 2000 p.p.m. of the benzimidazole, or to land, soil or crops, specifically apple, pear, peach, apricot or citrus fruit trees, vines or tea or french bean plants at, preferably 0À6 to 5À6 kg. per hectare.
