Abstract
1368311 Valves I BOTNICK 2 Sept 1971 40964/71 Heading F2V A mixing valve is subdivided into four sections operated by separate handles and adapted to dispense hot, warm, lukewarm and cold water respectively. The sections dispensing warm and lukewarm water each have a ceramic closure member 69 (Fig. 3) co-operating with a like seat V having hot and cold ports 17, 19 the flow to which is controlled by proportioning plug T. The closure member is carried by a slider M operated through sealing boot E by follower S, wedge P and a lever R supported in block L. The sections dispensing hot and cold unmixed water are similar except that plug T is omitted and the closure member (minus slider M) controls a single port only. The seats are located by a common gasket G, and the closure members and sliders are guided by common cage K. In each section, flow takes place around the closure members and sliders to common outlet dp. The mixing sections have stabilizing trickle grooves 73 through which initial flow occurs. In the modification of Fig. 7, each mixing section has opposed hot and cold inlet ports 17, 19 controlled by respective closure members M. A plug T controls-flow to port 17 to establish the desired temperature. In the hot and cold sections, a dummy slider is used in place of one closure member.
