Abstract

1368278 Abrasive blasting CARBORUNDUM CO 2 Nov 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 50778/71 Heading B3D [Also in Divsion F2] Flow control means, e.g. for controlling the flow of particulate abrasive material into a throwing-wheel unit 10, comprises a chamber 20 having an inlet 26, and a gate valve including a slidable plate 24 for opening or closing the inlet 26, the plate 24 being urged into closed position by resilient means 46 and openable by means of a pneumatic piston and cylinder arrangement 38 acting through a flexible connection 32 to stiffening member 28 attached to the plate 24. The plate 24, e.g. of polyurethane is urged towards the inlet 26 by looped leaf springs 42, and adjustable screws 44 are co-operable with pins 45 on a plate mounting bracket 34 to limit the extent of movement of the plate 24. A rubber tube 18 may connect the gate 16 to a feed spout 12.
