Abstract

1367768 Lighting fittings RISTS WIRES & CABLES Ltd 21 Dec 1971 [13 Jan 1971] 1806/71 Heading F4R A lighting unit comprises a body 11 for mounting an elongate gas discharge tube and a switch assembly including a mounting bracket 18, detachably engaged at one end of the body, in which the switch 19 may be secured in a number of alternative orientations so that the switch operating member is accessible in similar alternative orientations at the exterior of the unit. The bracket 18, formed of synthetic plastics material, has apertures 26 through any of which, selectively, the switch operating member protrudes, and is engageable as a snap fit with the body 11. The housing of the unit is completed by a diffuser which is also a snap fit with the body 11. Ancillary electrical equipment, e.g. an inverter, including a power transistor and heat sink, for 12 volt D.C. battery operation of the tube, is housed within the body 11.
