Abstract

136,758. Coles, W. J., and Allen & Co., E. May 19, 1919. Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.-In a machine for agitating cement slurry, crushed ore, or other more or less finely divided material in suspension in a liquid, one or more jets of gas are employed in combination with a mechanically-actuated stirrer. The distributing system for the gas is carried by, and rotates with, the stirrer and is not readily detachable from the stirrer. The tank a is of metal, brickwork, &c., and the stirrers consist of a rectangular framework f of channeiled members mounted on, and rotated by, vertical spindles b. The device for supplying compressed air or gas consists of tubes l open at their lower ends and supplied with gas from a main supply pipe m. The tubes l are clipped to the frame f in order that they may be easily removed for inspection or renewal. It is stated that the gas issuing from the lower ends of the tubes b agitates the material settled at the bottom of the tank, thus reducing the resistance offered by such material to the rotation of the stirrers.
