Abstract

1367418 Suction cleaners PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 30 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40199/72 Heading A4F [Also in Division H2] A suction cleaner motor-fan unit comprises an electric commutator motor 5 located downstream of an air compressor 2 having at least one rotatable fan, a partition 30 separating the motor 5 and the compressor 2 and having an opening for the motor shaft 26 and flow openings 44 for air discharged from the compressor, and baffle plates 45 Fig.2 (not shown) for directing cooling air through the motor 5, and the motor commutator 25 has carbon brushes 27 and is located between the motor rotor 17 and the partition 30 and the construction and arrangement is such that during operation of the cleaner local air flows adjacent the commutator carry away carbon brush detritus and deposit it on a stationary tray 46 surrounding the motor shaft upstream of the commutator 25. The tray 46 has a rim 53 and may have a corrugated or a sticky surface.
