Abstract

1367279 Measuring angular speed electrically COMPAGNIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE 27 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 20262/73 Heading G1N The rotations of a toothed metallic member 8 Fig. 1 are sensed by an inductor 7 forming part of the tuned circuit of an oscillator 1, whereby the normal HF oscillations are modulated by each tooth on member 8. The LF amplitude modulation is rectified and filtered at 2 and fed to a comparator 4 together with its average value determined at 3. The alternating difference voltage output from 4 is converted to a rectangular pulse train at 5, whose frequency is measured and is proportional to the angular velocity of toothed member 8. The coil 7 is located in a shielded cylinder and its leads are covered by an earthed sheath.
