Abstract

1367256 Suction dredger BAGGERMAATSCHAPPIJ BOS & KALIS BV 16 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 12463/72 Heading B7A [Also in Division B8] An apparatus for filling a hopper 2 of a dredger 1 comprises a pump 4 for sucking slurry up a pipe 3 from the river or sea bed and pushing it along a supply pipe 5 to a delivery line 7, which is hinged at 6 to permit vertical movement of a discharge mouth 8 of the line 7 relative to the hopper bottom, the whole delivery system apart from the mouth 8, being closed to atmosphere. The delivery line 7 is pivotable in a vertical plane by a winch apparatus 9 or alternatively by an hydraulic cylinder. The movement of the mouth 8 may be automatically controlled to maintain the mouth just above material settled in the hopper bottom.
