Abstract

1367003 Electronic fuel injection systems for I C engines ATELIERS DE LA MOTOBECANE 11 May 1972 [12 May 1971] 22100/72 Heading G1N In an I.C. engine fuel control system, a condenser C is discharged through the electromagnetic winding 1 of a fuel injector in synchronism with the cycles of the engine to thereby lift the needle of the injector to admit fuel, the discharge being varied to thereby vary the period of lift of the needle. As shown in Fig. 3, the engine alternates coil L is connected to charge the capaciter C through a diode D1, discharge being effected by the triggering of a thyristor in parallel with the winding 1. A diode D2 and a variable resistor R are connected in parallel with the winding 1 to vary the discharge through the winding 1. The resistor may be variable in dependence upon intake suction, temperature or the accelerater position. In Fig. 4, the discharge is varied by a thyristor Th controlled by a dephasing circuit Cd connected as shown. In an alternative, Fig. 5 (not shown), the dephasing circuit Cd is connected to shortcircuit to a greater or lesser extent the winding L of the alternater to thereby vary the charging voltage of the condenser C. This is achieved by connecting a thyristor in parallel with winding L, this thyristor being controlled by the dephasing circuit. The system is particularly appropriate for use in a two-stroke engine where fuel is injected directly into the cylinders.
