Abstract

1366874 Welding fluxes BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 28 Oct 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 51240/70 Heading C7M A submerged-arc welding flux has the following composition: - The deoxidants are preferably ferro-manganese and ferro-silicon, and the binder is preferably NaSiO 3 or KSiO 3 . The flux can be prepared by adding a dry mixture of the remaining components to a solution of NaSiO 3 or KSiO 3 and heating to remove the water. The manganese oxide is preferably Mn 3 O 4 , but MnO or Mn 2 O 3 may be used.
