1366733 Pre-combustion chambers for I C engines MOTOREN-UND TURBINEN-UNION FRIEDRICHSHAFEN GmbH 25 Aug 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 39771/72 Heading F1B A cup-shaped discharge member 11 for fitting to a diesel engine pre-combustion chamber 10 has a plurality of ducts 12 for connecting the precombustion chamber to the main combustion chamber, the ducts being in the form of oblong holes or slots, each having its major axis extending in the direction of the axis 14 of the member. The ducts are inclined towards the piston when the attachment is in use, the angle α being at least 15 degrees. The ducts 12 may pass radially through the wall of the member 11 or may be tangential to the inner wall of the member or may be at intermediate angles.
