Reversible handles; fixing by detachable socket pieces; lug and flange attachments.-The head of a broom is attached reversibly to its handle by means of an inclined metal socket-piece having a flange bolted to the flat or convex surface of the head, the socket being attached to, and supported on, the flange by three webs or buttresses. As shown, the socket b is attached to, or formed with, the flange g, and strengthening-webs or buttresses h are provided to support it. Squaresection bolts i are placed through square holes in the head a and through holes in the flange g, which is fixed by wing-nuts d. The handle f is fixed in the socket by a set-screw l.
