Abstract

1365013 Spray burners TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 2 Sept 1972 40811/72 Heading F4T A gun-type oil-burner comprises a blast tube 10 receiving air and coaxially enclosing an atomizing fuel-spray nozzle 16 and also housing ignition electrodes 20, a circular air-plate assembly 22, 24 having a plurality of orifices, e.g. 28, at the periphery thereof for dividing the air flow into spaced axially flowing streams along the inner surface of the tube, and each said air stream impinging into a respective channel formed between adjacent plates 40 on the inner surface of a frusto-conical outlet nozzle 36 having a central aperture through which said plates direct said air streams as a highly turbulent, conically spirally, and converging flow pattern. The air-plate assembly comprises two relatively rotatable plates 22, 24 formed with like apertures at their peripheries, and further like apertures 34 at their central regions for producing a limited flow of air adjacent to fuel nozzle 16.
