1364880 Nestable containers; containers; discharging articles REYNOLDS METALS CO 23 Nov 1971 57393/73 Divided out of 1364879 Headings B8D B8C and B8S A nestable container formed in one piece of sheet material comprises a planar top flange 13 joined by a downwardly and inwardly-curled edge portion 14B to a toroidal bead 15, which is curled in the opposite sense to the edge portion and spaced below the plane of the flange. The bead reinforces the flange and is adapted to support the container on the flange of a like container when nested therewith. The container may be of metallic foil, e.g. aluminium, or a laminated construction using paper, foil and plastics in any desired combination. The foil container may be provided with external thermosetting coating or layer and an internal thermoplastics coating to which a closure 22 may be heat-sealed, Fig. 3 (not shown). A reclosure cap 23 is provided for closing the container after the closure 22 has been removed. The lowermost of a nested stack of the containers may be released by dispensing apparatus comprising a reciprocable yoke having arm end portions 26 supporting the stack and arm intermediate wedge-shaped portions 31 adapted to engage between the beaded flanges of the two lowermost containers to release the bottom container while supporting the rest of the stack on movement of the yoke in the direction of arrow 33. On reverse yoke reciprocation, the stack is moved back on the arm end portions to permit the procedure to be repeated. A method and apparatus for forming the container is described and claimed in Specification 1,364,879 (Division B3).
