Abstract

1364829 Joint making packing BALZERS PATENT- & BETEILIGUNGS AG 29 March 1973 [7 April 1972] 15050/73 Heading F2B A sealing element for flange connections, e.g. in vacuum applications comprises a sealing ring 3 carried by a supporting ring 1 and surrounded by an outer ring 4 having a gap 5 bridged by a resilient connection 6. The sealing ring 3 may be of rubber or soft metal, and the supporting ring 1 of aluminium, and the connection 6 may comprise a tension spring held by constrictions 8, 9 in a groove (7), Fig. 2 (not shown), around the ring 4. Alternatively, the resilient connection may comprise a bolt 14 and spring 15, Fig. 3, a loop (16) of spring wire hooked into bores (17), (18) in the adjacent ends of the ring 4, Fig. 4 (not shown), or an elastic strip (19), Fig. 5 (not shown), pinned or screwed to the adjacent ring ends.
