1364813 Pipe couplings E CASPRINI 11 Dec 1972 [11 Dec 1971] 57117/72 Heading F2G In a quick-release pipe coupling, for making a butt joint with nipple B, resilient legs 1C, each carrying an element of an interrupted screwthread 1E are squeezed together to different extents, depending on whether one or both of sleeves 5 and 8 are lowered. When only sleeve 8 is lowered (Fig. 4), the interrupted screwthread mates with that of a nipple B of larger diameter than a nipple (B1, Fig. 6, not shown), having a screwthread of the same pitch as that of nipple B. To tighten nylon gasket 12 against the nipple, handle 4 is turned, with ring 3 lowered so that teeth 3A and 2C intermesh. The nipples may be the outlets of elements of an injection pump (A) which is to be connected to by tubes 10 to an engine test bench.
