Abstract
1364747 Flavourings INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES INC 21 July 1972 [28 July 1971] 34250/72 Headings A2B and A2C [Also in Division A5] A foodstuff or tobacco has its flavour or aroma altered by the addition of a compound having the formula: where X is S or NR 7 and (1) when X is S, R 1 , R 3 and R 5 are the same and are alkyl groups of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and R 2 , R 4 and R 6 are the same and are hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms (2) when X is NR 7 , R 1 , R 3 and R 5 are the same and are alkyl groups of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R 2 , R 4 and R 6 are hydrogen atoms, and R, is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The concentration of the compound in the material is 0.02 to 20 ppm, preferably 0.1 to 15 ppm. Known flavouring adjuvants are used to form compositions which include the compound, the compositions containing 0.05 to 25% by weight of the compound. These flavouring adjuvants, of which many examples are given include other artificial and natural flavourings, stabilisers, thickeners, surface active agents and conditioners. The flavouring may be used in meat, gravy, soup, convenience food, peanut butter, fish, confectionery, breakfast food, baked goods, vegetables, cereals, snack foods, and pet foods.
