Abstract
1364675 Coated particles I M P E R I A L CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 7 June 1972 [5 July 1971] 31415/71 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C1 and C3] Particulate material (M) is coated with aq Na silicate solution, and the coated particles are then further coated with (C) a colouring matter. The coated particles are then dried at <150‹C. Material (M) may be organic or inorganic. It may have diameter #1.5 inch. It may be a polyamide, polyester, polyesteramide, polymer or copolymer of vinylchloride, urea-, phenol- or melamine-formaldehyde, vinyl acetal polymer, ABS terpolymers, cellulose acetate, nitrate, or butyrate, polycarbonate, polystyrene, polyurethane, epoxy resin, gelatin, casein, polyethylene, or polypropylene; or (M) may be mineral, e.g. flint, slate, china clay, glass, fly ash, foamed silica, expanded clay, mica, chalk, talc, asbestine, barytes, silica, bauxite, micaceous Fe oxide, diatomaceous earth, or glass spheres. The silicate solution may be#20% strength. There may be 3-15 parts Na silicate per 100 (M). (M) and (C) may be mixed together before mixing with the silicate solution or (M) and the silicate solution may be mixed before (C) is added. Colourant (C) may be an organic or inorganic colouring matter, a long list of types being given. Use:-in polymer compositions.
