1364126 Oleic acid CRODA INTERNATIONAL Ltd 8 Feb 1973 [10 Dec 1971] 57412/71 Heading C2C Oleic acid with improved colour stability is prepared by adding less than 2À5% based on the weight of oleic acid, of hypophosphorous acid or a salt thereof, followed by vacuum distillation. The acid or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or amine salt may be used and the mixture may be heated, e.g. to below 280‹ C. prior to the distillation which may be with a still pot temperature of 180-250‹ C., a still vapour temperature of 180-230‹ C and a pressure of less than 10 mm. Hg absolute.
