Abstract

1364046 Aqueous dispersions of partially oxidised paraffin AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN DER DDR 11 Aug 1971 14221/71 Heading B1V [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Compositions useful as release agents in the manufacture of concrete articles are prepared by mixing (a) 10-20 parts by weight of partially oxidised paraffin melting at 50‹-60‹C and having an acid number of 50-100, (b) 0.15 to 0.6 parts of ammonia, (c) 0-25 parts of polyethylene oxide having a molecular weight of about 4000 and melting at 50‹-55‹C, and (d) 54.4 to 89.95 parts of water. The oxidised paraffins are low molecular hydrocarbons which have been partially oxidised with atmospheric oxygen in the presence of a catalyst and have resultant polar groups which react with the ammonia to give ammonium salts.
