Abstract

1363954 lodinated glucagon ELI LILLEY & CO 4 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 15483/72 Heading C3H [Also in Division A5] An iodinated glucagon of prolonged biological activity is obtained by iodinating glucagon with sufficient iodinating agent to produce a glucagon having an average of up to 5 gram atoms preferably 2-4 gram atoms of iodine per mole of glucagon. The iodination may be accomplished by reacting glucagon with iodine monochloride in an alkaline medium, preferably at pH 7À5 to 9À0.
