Abstract
1363695 Cooling press CHEMIEBAU DR A ZIEREN GmbH & CO KG 23 Nov 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 54290/71 Heading B1G [Also in Division Cl] A cooling press which may be used for producing solid salt hydrates from aqueous salt solutions comprises a series of parallel plates 1, with thickened portions 2, which are arranged in contact with one another and with the non-thickened portions 1 to 20 cms apart thereby forming chambers 3, in which crystallization takes place. Each plate, e.g. of aluminium, is provided with bores 4 and 6, which are connected to adjacent plate bores, and through which coolant is passed via connections 7 and 8. Each plate carries a recess (not shown) which when the plates are juxtapositioned form a channel connecting all chambers 3. To recover the solid material, plates 1 are removed in sequence or the distance between adjacent plates is increased whereby the material falls from the plates and drops onto a conveyor belt located beneath the press. The press is suitable for the production of aluminium sulphate hydrate.
