Abstract

1363603 Pressure-sensitive resistors MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 21 Aug 1972 38823/72 Heading H1K A pressure-sensitive resistor element comprises a heat-moulded body 3 of aggregated conductive particles each of which is coated with an elastic polymeric resin.such as a silicone resin. The conductive particles, which may be a carbonaceous powder formed by carbonizing and graphitizing a thermosetting phenol or furan resin to form spherical, glass-like particles are mixed with the elastic resin, heated to semi-harden them, pulverized to harden them and form the coated particles, and finally heatmoulded. Electrodes 1, 2, e.g. of Cu, are applied by evaporation or by the use of an adhesive 5, 6 which may be a pressure-sensitive conductive adhesive containing Ag powder. In other embodiments the body 3 may be sealed between epoxy adhesive tapes, embedded in an elastic polymeric resin or mounted on an elastic substrate, e.g. of natural rubber.
