Abstract

1363530 Concrete composition ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 22 Dec 1971 [8 Jan 1971] 59589/71 Heading C1H [Also in Division C3] For every 1000 parts by weight of cement are incorporated a parts by weight of a (30-80 wt per cent) hydrocarbon oil (initial distilling above 250‹ C., viscosity 5-100 Cst. at 20‹ C.) solution of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal alkylaryl sulphonate (containing at least 20 carbon atoms) and b parts by weight of a polyoxyalkylene glycol (average molecular weight at least 400) wherein Q<a<2 and 0À2a<b<5a. The hydrocarbon oil may be a mineral oil or an alkyl benzene having an average of 17-19 carbon atoms per molecule. The polyoxyalkylene glycol may be poly-(oxyethylene-oxypropylene) glycol. The hydrocarbon oil solution and polyoxyalkylene glycol may be dispersed or dissolved in water and/or one or more water miscible organic solvents, e.g. methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or isobutyl alcohols, monomethyl, monoethyl or monobutyl ethers of propylene glycol or diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol or diethylene glycol.
