Abstract

1363405 Hand tools J CANTALES 22 March 1973 [22 March 1972] 13853/73 Heading E1S [Also in Division B4] A combination hand tool which forms a plasterers smoothing knife as well as a nail puller, picture hanger remover and screwdriver comprises a flat metal blade member 4 having a top and a bottom surface, said blade member having a relatively wide blade end portion 6 which tapers into a longitudinally extending shank portion 10, a chisel point screwdriver 36 at the end of said shank portion, a picture hanger remover formed in a side edge of said shank portion adjacent the end of said shank portion, said picture hanger remover comprising a tapered slot 22 extending inwardly from the edge of said side edge of said shank portion and terminating at an apex 24, and a tapered pointed arm portion 26 of said shank between said slot and the end of said shank portion, and a nail puller on the bottom surface of said shank portion of said blade member and oriented longitudinally to said shank member, said nail puller having a pair of spaced side walls 29 depending from the bottom surface of said shank portion, a bottom wall 30 connected to the bases of said side walls, said bottom wall extending into an upwardly inclined ramp 32 terminating in the plane of said shank portion and a nail aperture 40 in said bottom extending in the form of a tapered slot 42 into said ramp. Moulded plastics or wooden handle parts 12, 14 are fixed to the shank portion 10 e.g. by rivets 18. The walls of the nail puller may be pressed from the shank material or alternatively (Figs. 5, 6 not shown) formed separately from the shank of the tool and then rivetted thereto. In an alternative construction (Figs. 7-10 not shown) the screwdriver tip is directed at a right angle to the general plane of the tool shank.
