1362570 Function generators ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 23 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 44375/71 Heading G4G An electric analogue function generator comprises two resistors 10, 11 each having at least two terminals 12 to 16, 17 to 21, held at selected voltages, two mechanically connected tappings 32, 33 on resistors 10, 11, a device for moving the tappings, e.g. motor 34, so that the tapping 33 is moved to a point on resistor 11 at a potential equal to an input voltage at terminal 37, this being achieved by a comparator 36 whose output drives motor 34: the output voltage then appears at terminal 35 as the voltage of tapping 32. In Fig. 3 the continuous resistors 10, 11 are replaced by discrete series connected resistors 38 with intermediate tappings. In Fig. 4 the tappings are found approximately along two series of discrete resistors then a further series of resistors (10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>) is connected across the two tappings bracketing the correct point to obtain finer subdivision. Two separate stepping mechanisms (50, 39) effect the coarse and fine balancing.
