Abstract

136,252. Gaymer, J. Dec. 10, 1918. Chimneys. - To check. down-draughts, an areareducing device A, of the type formed of a tubular member of fire-clay larger at one end than the other, is built into a chimney B, the area of the opening of the larger end being substantially equal to that of the flue, and the smaller end being spaced from the flue walls. Two of these devices may be employed as shown, with their large ends towards one another and preferably at a short distance apart. A cylindrical liner C may be placed on the device A, and the space between it and the brickwork may be filled with concrete. A simi. lar liner C<1> may be used beneath the lower device A. A chimney pot may be dispensed with, and the part of the flue above the device A may be of smaller section than the part beneath. Specifications 2250/71 and 8682/90 are referred to.
