1362503 Graft polymers SOLVAY & CIE 27 Oct 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 49669/72 Heading C3G A graft polymer is produced by polymerization of 100 parts by weight of a mixture comprising more than 50 but not more than 90% by weight of an acrylonitrile together with an ester of an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid in the presence of 1 to 40 parts of a rubbery co-polymer obtained by the polymerization of a mixture of monomers consisting of 70 to 35% by weight of a conjugated diene and 30 to 65% of an ester of an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid. The mixture of nitrile and ester may contain a minor quantity of another olefinically unsaturated monomer. Examples are given in which graft polymers are prepared by an aqueous emulsion process from butadiene-methyl acrylate rubber, acrylonitrile and methyl acrylate.
